Katherine Allen is a Certified Brainspotting Consultant and is also a Certified Trainer. This means that she is available to those new to Brainspotting for their Supervision hours towards Certification or for case consult, she is running Consultant-In-Training (CIT) courses, and she is scheduling and running the 3-day Phase 1 and Phase 2 Trainings in Northern New England.

COVID: ALL TRAININGS ARE BEING HELD ONLINE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

A Different Style of Training
Katherine specializes in small, intimate and intensive in-person Brainspotting trainings. Her minimum size is 8 attendees and maximum is 20, no more. This way Katherine can have a real sense of each attendee’s needs and skills and be extremely present with the very intensive and involved development of high-quality Brainspotting practitioners. She is passionate about creating community within Brainspotting, a strong sense of connection and support. Katherine is available by phone or e-mail to her trainees at any time, free of charge, for questions or to run through quick case issues. More formal Supervision is separate and would incur a nominal fee.

Host a Local Training!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Katherine if you are interested in hosting a training in your area or for your agency, collegial community or group. I need a minimum 8 attendees to come to your location for training, contact Katherine for more information and scheduling.

Desirable location qualities:

  • Space: A room large enough for the attendees to break into dyads for practicums, having breathing room and some privacy as a goal is helpful, as well as comfortable enough in coming together for the PowerPoint. It is important for the space to be private and low- or no-cost. Typically hotel venues are high-cost and have strict limitations with regard to food and timing which interrupts the privacy and rhythm of the training.
  • Refrigeration: It is preferable to have a kitchenette or at least a refrigerator at our disposal. When we are working our brains hard it’s important to also nourish them well, so we provide a healthy breakfast (boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, fruit, bagels and cream cheese, nut butter, coffee/tea/juice) as well as a hearty afternoon break snack (chips, cheese, hummus and veggies, chocolate or cookies, fruit, etc.) and we need to keep everything fresh.
  • Seating: Ideally seating that is comfortable for long stretches. Chairs that roll or adjust are ideal, and most importantly the chairs need to have arms. We sometimes recommend attendees bring their own chair as an option if seating is hard or as physical needs dictate.
  • Lunch: Lunch daily is on your own so some attendees bring their own lunches, others will opt to go out, get some fresh air, stretch legs, etc. Lunch is 75-minutes, a good amount of time.
  • Local lodging: The Brainspotting training is a very full 3 days, 9a-6p, and often driving to and from home may be overly taxing.
